Some clients specifically request for a Manny (male nanny) as opposed to a female nanny. Families have different reasons for employing a Manny. Some parents simply prefer to have a male role model for their children. Mannies are also often hired to serve as rough-and-tumble, active, sporty-type nannies for children who are very active and adventurous. Some clients feel Mannies are able to keep up with their child’s highly energetic pursuits better than a female nanny. The Manny provides children with the outlet to direct their energies into different sporting activities.
Mannies that fit this type of job are either former coaches, camp counselors, physical education teachers or very athletic college students. They all make superb Mannies for kids that lead very active outdoor lives. A Manny’s duties are very similar to that of a female nanny, but he spends more time out of the home with the children because of their active lifestyle. He forms a unique relationship with each of his charges and exerts a very positive influence on their behavior, especially since they all look for his approval. He is their role model.
