It takes more than “elbow grease” to keep a house spotless. The role of the Housekeeper is the total upkeep of a household with tasks ranging from making beds and taking care of the laundry to cleaning, dusting, vacuuming and polishing, down to the care and maintenance of stone floors and surfaces. Housekeepers need to be knowledgeable about all the tools and equipment of their trade, as well as their proper application. Many of today’s Housekeepers are required to carry out multiple roles and may be expected to do extra tasks, such as cooking and serving, as well as childcare. They may also be required to travel to other residences for their seasonal upkeep.
With more and more families adhering to Green and more sustainable lifestyles today’s Housekeepers are required to be versed in the use of natural and organic cleaning products and supplies; proper recycling procedures; water and power conservation, and have experience in purchasing organic foods.
