This may be a married couple or two people working together professionally. Couples offer a wealth of combined services ranging from housekeeping and childcare to cooking and chauffeuring. The role of each individual is determined by his or her skills and talents. Whatever their function may be, they are expected to be very flexible and must be able to multitask. Their role on the whole consists of the overall running—and sometimes the management—of the home. Very often, the function of one person will be mainly inside the home while the other person performs tasks outside, such as running errands; washing the cars and boats and taking care of their general maintenance; washing windows; gardening (if necessary) and interacting with vendors on a regular basis. They often take their instructions from the Madam or the Master of the house or the House or Estate Manager, if there is one on staff.
There are times when a couple may have a child, a fact that they make known to the agency at the time of interviewing. This is communicated to the client who may not have a problem with it as long as this does not conflict with their work schedule.
